“Sis…My supply is reducing, my stock left with only 1 bottle in the fridge..how to boost my breast milk supply within one day? Help me”…
Frankly, it is not easy to boost your milk supply within one day but what you can do is try and pray. I’ve faced it before and luckily what I’ve tried to revive them worked. Yes, within one day. Trust me, to get to this ONE day achievement, I’ve done so trillion ways (okay, i’m exaggerating) and tried so many remedies to make sure my kids got continuous supply of my Expressed Breast Milk (EBM).
Failing to notice that your milk supply is getting lesser and lesser will eventually become a big problem. You tend to think that “it is OK”, I still have few more stocks at home. EEKKKK….Wrong!!!
The minute you noticed from your pumping session that you are not producing the normal or usual production level, it is the sign. You need to do something. Don’t wait until last minute. Once you get to your panic level, it is a bit too late to save it because you are stressed out. Let’s share the ideas and the tips I’ve been worked on to boost my milk supply within one day.
First – Identify the root of the cause
Be sensitive when you noticed that your milk supply is dropping. Check was it because of your pumping session? Exhaustion? Stress? PMS? Your baby is not latching correctly? Tackle this question first. If it is the pumping session, it is still workable. Exhaustion or stress? you need to take a day off. PMS? There are few food intake you should consider during PMS. Latching problem? Check it and get it right!
These are some of the problems you might faced during the wonder years of breastfeeding. But, what can you do to increase them within one day? Read on..
Second – Take a day off
Seriously if you really can’t go to the nursery to send the EBM during lunch hour or so, then, take a day off with your baby at home. Do not send them to nursery. Baby is the best person you would need to boost the milk supply. How? Make sure you nurse them more often. Then, pump it out after every nursing. Pump for 5-10 minutes after each nursing to signal the breast that you need more milk. Keep every drops of the milk no matter how little.
Third – Get the remedies
Fenugreek seems the best remedy I’ve ever tried. Soak it in hot tea for about 5 minutes and drink it. You will feel the difference.
Fourth – Drink plenty of plain water
I drank almost 4 liters everyday when I breastfeed my children. Even by having to drink that much, I still faced the same problem. So, mothers..don’t worry..it’s common. All BF mothers will feel and face the same problem. With the correct motivation, you can do it.
Fifth – Drink milk
Back in the days when I breastfed my eldest, I don’t really drink milk. But one day when my supply is reducing, I went to seek for advice and one of the advice was, drink more milk. And I did. And that day, my supply increased 4 oz from usual, I got one extra bottle to keep.
Sixth – Check your pump
Pumping machine can be very problematic if it is not properly serviced. Make sure all components and accessories are intact. If you noticed that accessories are doing things they are not supposed to do, get it fix immediately. If money is concern, then, study the marmet technique. Its free of charge. But it is very time consuming.
Seventh – Ghee, my milk booster
I have this habit of eating this one traditional cuisine from west, central and south asia called Naan every evening. My supply will not only increase after 10 minutes I eat it, my milk will be very creamy and i can see the fat inside it. When my milk supply reduced, I will increase the naan intake and the result has never failed me.
Lastly – It belongs to Him, pray for it
Well, you’re supposed to pray before and after you have done all these. Like it or not, this wonder food came from Him so, ask from The Mighty to help our little ones. Pray that the stocks are enough for them, pray that you will be able to boost the supply, pray for stress reliever. Pray, pray and pray.
There, my tips to boost my breast milk supply for 6 consecutive years for my 3 kids. I’ve mentioned earlier, it is not easy. You will face all the exhaustion, the frustration and so much more but the result is so overwhelming I am so happy and never been more proud I’ve gone through these phases.
Love
